interesting observations...
[info]blessingsbeyond

i've been meaning to type this out for a while now. anw, better late than never yea?
remember how we always talk abt eating chicken rice at the hawker centre after church? (so they've moved.. are they back again?)
well, i realised that over here, we do the same thing!! it's almost always pho/broken rice on victoria st. hahah.. not that i'm complaining. the pho rocks!! :D

no prices for guessing.. the other is the "church syndrome" where we can't seem to finish talking as service ends and inch towards the exit but take forever to do so? hahaaa.. :D

those weird observations aside, there's been several new songs (erm, new to me..hahha.maybe not you;) we've been singing recently... sharing "hope of all hearts" with you here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99-pP-Wzp0k).. hopefully you're as encouraged by it as i am!

more than the air i breathe...
[info]blessingsbeyond

haha.. got poked by bell--saying that i dont update my blog.. so here's one!
we've been singing this song in church for a wk or two (??) and it really spoke a lot to me especially today, so im sharing it here today:

i need you more
by bruce haynes & lindell cooley

D/A       D2    Em                             A
I need You more, more than yesterday I need You Lord
G                   D2    A/C#      Bm
More than words can say I need You more
     G6     Em7             D/A  A            D2   (G2  D2/F#)
Than ever before I need You Lord, I need You Lord

D/F#          G6
More than the air I breathe
              A      Bm
More than the song I sing
D/F#          G6
More than the next heartbeat
Em7/D          D    D/F#         G6
More than anything, and Lord as time goes by
        A       Bm
I'll be by Your side
        Em            D/F#       Asus        A
Cause I never want to go back to my old life
           D
I need You more

Bm7                F#m7              G2       A
Right here in Your presence is where I belong
Bm7           F#m7              G2
Now my broken heart has finally found a home
         Asus     A
And I'll never be alone

*haha. i wonder if the chords work--just copy and pasted it. heh!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

i realised that sometimes we take too many things in our hands, worry abt how they're gg to turn out etcetc.
we dont realise that it can turn our focus away from God to whatever (situation/circumstance) we're in right now.

today i felt that He was really trying to point me back to what's truly important--HIM! i think we kinda all KNOW that we need God and all but lack that desperation for Him. i truly believe that what i needed to hear what to just stop trying to do life the way ive always been, trying to be dependent on myself first, then remembering that i need Him. rather, our need for God shld be something that is never-ending, a thirst that shld be more than yesterday, more than ever before. not stagnant and creating a mosquito breeding ground (allowing other unwanted things to get in).. ((haha.. NEA has taught me well))

on a totally random note, i was reminded that it's been exactly 4wks since i first arrived in melb! :D

2 interesting news to report!

firstly, the scholarship board actually replied with gd news recently.. so it's probable that in a bit, i'd be off on a 3-4yr stint carrying out my postgrad research :D

secondly, a day after the lovely news, the ever klutz-y me kneed into a metal can while picking a ball and....
ended up with 4 stitches, 5 jabs and a limping self. heh >< )

happy mothers' day to you..
[info]blessingsbeyond

happy mothers' day to you mommmmmmyyyyyy~
a little slip-short for our gift to you but well, i guess you cld take both our graduations this year as yr belated presents okay? HAHA. (depending on how each turns out;)

well, i utterly enjoyed this video my pastor showed us today--tribute to mom thing..
u can view it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX6flpUweIQ
it's hilarious! haha. and almost pin points precisely what every mom has said at least once in their lives. hahaa.

anyway, apart from that, i rem looking at the old cards i used to write for my mom and they inevitably mentioned "nagging". but it often doesnt end just there--the sentences usually start with "thank you" anyhows. somehow, in spite of all our complaints abt how terrible these naggy comments are, as kids, i think we secretly quite like some of them. after all, it means that there's actually someone who cares whether you brush your teeth or do your work or what not. HAHA. though, i must say, it's always my dad who asks "have you brushed yr teeth? do it now!" heheh.

whatever the case, it's a nice sweet little day to thank mothers. for all the long months carry this heavy load in front of them, enduring tough childbirth and hving to watch these little things grow up from their annoying cries to their annoying remarks abt you. HAHA. though, im sure (RIGHT MOMMYYY??) they nv thought them annoying. i thank my mommyyy for all the love showered on both the weird little girls. it was nice growing up with all the "sweetieee", "sweetheart" and what nots even though we gave gross faces after. and of course, all the "try my cake/cookie/stuff/whatever" and "just eat one bite--if you dont eat, how wld you know how it tastes like" <-------this was best used to con us into eating yucky (oops!) stuff which we normally nv wld.... the list goes on. but for all the wonderful things--staying up and waiting for me to finish studying, attempting to read jap words to me, massaging my poor shoulder and neck throughout my thesis-writing and exam period. LOVEYOU MOMSIE!

HAHA. after all the lovely trips to b&j with fx and all, i finally got to taste my first free cone! oooh of course, i also learnt that wuieeee dearieeee actually volunteered to help scoop for free cone day back during her exchange days in wisconsin! i also met karen there with her collegues..

last official day of proper 'school'
[info]blessingsbeyond

haha. yep. yr eyes did not deceive you. im finally posting one (that is, if anyone still refreshes this little corner of mine). it's been a really tiring semester--not that it has ended, mind you (i've got 2 more exam papers to go) but today marked the end of official sch-going days, for lect or lab or whatever. haha. it was so funny when i shouted across 2 rows of pple to tell sharon that "today's the last day of sch!!"

a day where we had to come by to drop our thesis, walk ard in the sweltering heat (fifi understands), wave and say hi to friends hanging around the faculty possibly for the last time. i thought it would be a wow thing.. something more to look forward to.. but it seemed... a little too anti-climatic. perhaps it was the mad rush to finish my experiments, then my presentations, then my poster, then my thesis, .... and when it all just dwindled down to a close... yea, anti-climatic. heh. oddly enough.

i guess you could see how busy i was--judging from the lack of ANY posts for that matter. haha. thought my blog died, didnt you? (: but i realised that i'd always have things to be thankful abt. we're given so much.. and yea, all these are blessingsbeyond! i thank God for bringing me through all the crazy typings, the shoulder and neck pains (fr all the crazy typings), the late nights (ok, usually before midnight!), the depressing times when i think i'm nv gg to finish, the weird routine all final year students wld understand (quote pammie "sleep-type-eat" and the whole process just repeats itself until said thesis/poster is done), the dropping by school twice a wk for ONE lecture in betwn all that typings.. hahaha. the list goes on.

im also really really thankful for my parents who managed to survive my weirdness and mumbles... and mommyyyyy who massaged my shoulder and neck night after night, listened to my crappy presentations (x3??), poster presentations, stress-accompanied complaints (HAHA! there's still my exam quirkiness >< to come).. of course, daddyyyyyyyyy too for holding my poster and listening to my trial run #XXX and all. thanks a bunch.

then there's fifi--the im-hving-fun-come-play-w-me sister who very nicely turns her music softer when i ask, not disturb me MUCH and always cracks me up with her attempts to make me pay for her lunch. (note: fifi-->im not gg to sch anymore, not until my exam days.. guess you hv to buy yr own! oh and thanks for claypot today :)

and then there's also fx who listens to all my whines abt nv finishing my poster/thesis and everything else. now it's gg to be exam worry whines. haha. are u up for it? (: appreciate the many times you just managed to make me rem how to laugh again in the midst of all my complaints.

and of course all my friends who've heard me whine and shared tgt how we must finish up all these step by step. it's amazing how far we've come. ALL THE BEST FOR EXAMS! :D (if u hv any that is ;)

poster presentation pics! )

ben&jerry's chunk fest with traffic
[info]blessingsbeyond

oops. i kinda left this one out the last time i blogged. anyhows, last saturday (6dec) TRAFFIC went down to fort canning park for a time of icecream in the .. well.. erratic weather after a hilariously funny lunch tgt at fish&co.

so we were happy that it rained before the fest started (-->meaning fewer pple wld've made it there earlier). but that meant that everywhere was rather wet. we took that well, with timmy playing some 4x4 rubix and me gg ard taking funny poses of them. then the rain came. what started out as a drizzle became a pouring rain, and amongst the 9 of us, only ONE was smart enough to bring an umbrella. (thanks shaun!)
it was a quite a sight i must admit, 9 heads trying to pop under shaun's foldable umbrella meant for a max of 2 pple. haha. some gave up and stood in the rain (i hope no one got sick!! ><) while others--like myself--squeezed under that little umbrella. HAHA. mymy. all for 12 new flavors of ben&jerry's icecream?! haha.

anyw, the sad part was that we had to order in the rain and shelter those precious scoops of icecream to a dry enough place to enjoy. haha. it was an interesting day :D we even got to see this really cool machine (check collage pics) which produced foam-y stars and hearts and all sorts of shapes which floated ard (and up into) the sky.

guess it all ended with 9 smellies walking away, happy to hv tried some pretty amazing flavors.. ooh recap! we tried: cake batter, half baked, peanut butter cookie dough (me: LOVELOVE!), choc peanut butter swirl, cinnamon buns, triple caramel chunk, vanilla choc chunk, lemonade sorbet, mango sorbet, strawberry cheesecake, and some cappucino one which i obv didnt try ;) .... *sorry if i missed out some! let me know if u rem :D

some pictures to rem the occassion (: )
mmmMM. i wish they'd bring peanut butter cookie dough here.
oooooooh, swei and i might be doing sthing similar soon! *excited*

* * *
a big THANK YOU to all my lovelies who stood by in the hot sun and the dreary rain (and the hot sun again) just to satisfy my little icecream indulgence (:
